The rest of the directory — Smartsheet, Monday.com, SharePoint, naturalForms, Dataforma, SRS Roof Hub, and a handful of niche roofing and inspection tools — follows the same shape.

Three honest observations:

1. Almost every native integration is photo sync with job matching. Job gets created in your CRM, a project appears in CompanyCam, photos flow back to the job record. That’s the product working as designed, and for most residential shops it’s exactly enough. Nobody hunts for photos at invoice time. Done.

2. Housecall Pro is not in CompanyCam’s native directory (verified July 2026). If you run HCP, your CompanyCam connection lives in Zapier or the API. Worth knowing before you assume “everyone integrates with everyone” — even in the friendliest directory in the industry, there are gaps.

3. Nothing in Tier 1 moves measurements. Photo counts per tech, documentation compliance, time-on-site inferred from first-to-last photo timestamps — no native integration carries that anywhere. The sync moves pictures, not the data about the pictures. Keep that in mind; it’s the wall the next two tiers do or don’t get you over.

Tier 2: Zapier — good for triggers, a dead end for reporting

Zapier connects CompanyCam to thousands of apps on a trigger → action basis. New project in CompanyCam → create a row in Google Sheets. New photo tagged “before” → post to a Slack channel. Job closed in your CRM → create a CompanyCam project. If your CRM isn’t in the native directory — Housecall Pro shops, this is you — Zapier is the fastest bridge, and for one-off automations it’s honestly great: no code, live in an afternoon, a few hundred dollars a year.

Now the limits, because this is where owners get burned:

  • Zapier sees events, not history. It fires when something happens. It can’t backfill three years of projects, and if a zap was off for a week, that week is just gone from your spreadsheet.
  • You can’t build reporting on it. A Google Sheet fed by zaps looks like a report until you need to join it with anything — payroll, job costing, your CRM’s customer records. Trigger-level data has no relationships. It’s a log, not a database.
  • It’s brittle at volume. At 450 work orders a month, a silently failed zap doesn’t announce itself. You find out at month-end when the numbers don’t reconcile — and nobody’s numbers reconcile a month later.

Rule of thumb: Zapier is for notifications and small hand-offs. The moment the word “report” or “dashboard” enters the conversation, you’ve left Zapier territory.

Tier 3: The API — pull it into a back end you own

CompanyCam has a real, documented, public REST API — docs.companycam.com — with OAuth 2.0 and webhooks. It can read, create, update, and delete most entities in the system: projects, photos, users, tags, and more. What the API gets you that Tiers 1 and 2 never will: every project, every photo, every user, on your schedule, into a database you own. Webhooks push events as they happen; scheduled pulls backfill and reconcile. Once the data is in your own back end, sitting next to your job records and payroll data, you can measure things CompanyCam has no screen for:

  • Photos per tech per work order — who documents and who doesn’t
  • Documentation compliance by crew, by client, by territory
  • First-photo-to-last-photo time as a proxy for time on site
  • Which client accounts generate rework, backed by the photo trail

This is exactly the wall the facility-maintenance owner we mentioned hit. He liked the product. What he couldn’t get out of it was measurement:

Keep it simple:

  • You just want photos on the job record → Tier 1. If your CRM is in the native directory, turn it on and stop reading. This is most residential shops.
